Community Action & Resource Table (CART) Referrals
“The Lethbridge Housing Authority (LHA), in pursuit of its mission to combat homelessness, administers a recovery- focused Community Action & Resource Table (CART) in partnership with various community and funded agency partners. The primary aim of CART is to minimize obstacles that individuals face in accessing the appropriate support when needed, achieved through an improvement of the three C’s- Communication, Coordination and Cooperation among service providers. The fundamental functions of CART encompass access, evaluation, prioritization, and placement. Intake workers are responsible for providing access and evaluation services, while a placement committee manages prioritization and placement functions.”

Many of the individuals that are seeking support in our community are facing housing stability or homelessness as a primary concern. In these complex situations where housing concerns are at the forefront, referrals are able to be made to a number of service providers that range from supporting individuals in either finding and maintaining market housing to those that focus on more intensive 24-hr supportive housing.
All referrals to housing supports and programs are done through the Community Access & Resource Table (CART) which is convened by the Lethbridge Housing Authority (LHA).
CART Meetings take place weekly with referrals made to various housing programs with a goal of working to ensure that individuals seeking housing supports are referred to the best program to meet their needs and support them through the complex process of finding and maintaining housing.
Agencies or staf members may be expected to:
present the referral at the meeting to provide additional information before a referral is made to a housing program.
being the point of contact until the individual is accepted by a program
setting up up suitability interviews, warm trandfers
supporting individuals until they are accepted into the program.
If you need to do a referral to CART, but do not have the capacity to fulfuil the above responsibilities, consider making a referral to Community LINKS to do the CART referral and act as the point of contact. Individuals who self refer, will be asked to attend Community LINKS to go through the application process with a thrid party to present at the CART Meeting.
