What is the Lethbridge ICA Service Fair?

The Lethbridge ICA Service Fair is an annual day for ICA Trained System Navigators and Service Providers in the community to gather and learn about resources and referral pathways in the community.

The annual event is dedicated to the development of System Navigators and features various activities designed to build their capacity. It aims to acheive this through several components:

Opening Ceremonies

The Service Fair begins with an event featuring cultural activities organized and led by the Blackfoot Resource Hub, information and updates from the City of Lethbridge - Community & Social Development, as well as a short presentation from the ICA Systems Lead on the annual acheivements, changes and future plans for the Lethbridge ICA System

Resource Tables

Throughout the day, local non-profit service providers will have the chance to share information about their programs and services, as well as have their staff and volunteers learn about other organizations through a trade show style resource fair. All booths are staffed by individuals able to answer questions about the organizations programs and services as well as how to make referrals

Presentations

Located in conference rooms at the venue, professional developemt presentations on a variety of topics identified by the Lethbridge ICA Community of Practice are made available for the attendees. A schedule of presentations is made available in the weeks leading up to the event and includes information on the topics for the presentations as well as whether they are relevant to System Navigators, Supervisors or Organization Leadership

Community Feedback

One of the spaces at the event is dedicated to roundtable conversations to connect and explore opportunities with other attendees or provide feedback to inform the ongoing development and improvement of the system through solution focused facilitated conversations. Any and all attendees are welcome to drop-in and provide their thoguhts and insights

Note: While there are many service providers on hand throughout the Service Fair, this is NOT a day for individuals seeking support to attend. The event is aimed towards the System Navigators and Service Providers in order to give space for the ongoing development and improvement of the Lethbridge ICA System.

Attending as A System Navigator

The Service Fair is open to all staff and system navigators with activities catered to the level that the staff member works at. This includes activities and sessions designed for:

  • Tier 1 & 2 System Navigators

  • Team Leads & Program Supervisors

  • Executive & Organizational Leadership

While all staff at organizations are welcome to attend, it is reccomended that individuals understand the work of the Lethbridge ICA System by attending Tier 1 or Tier 2 System Navigator Training prior to the Service Fair.

For System Navigators, the Service Fair offers a day to:

  • Learn about resources and service providers in the community

  • Meet staff at other service providers, gather resources and ask questions about referrals

  • Attend presentations on a variety of topics

  • Provide feedback on trends, barriers and gaps affecting individuals in the community

Staff are welcome to attend as much or as little of the event as they are able to do to work within the time that they might have available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is There a Limit to how many staff/volunteers can attend?

There is no limit to how many staff can attend. It is requested that all staff attending for any portion of the service register online by the deadline to help with planning for the event, and give infromation on the number of attendees to presenters and organizations providing resources.

IS LUNCH Provided?

While light refreshements (coffee, tea and water) are available throughout the day, lunch is no longer provided due to the increasingly complexity of dietary restrictions. Staff and volunteers are more than welcome to bring their own food and drink to the event to meet their unique needs.

What organizations are invited to the event?

Recognizing that the differences between organizations in our community are nearly as diverse as the differences between individuals seeking support, all organizations who support individuals are welcome to attend and provide information about their services. This can result in organizations being present that have different cultural, religous or political views than you might have. We ask all attendees to recognize that while an organization might not be who we would reach out to, that there are individuals in our community who feel genuinely safe, seen and supported by that organization. It is for this reason that all service providers in our community are invited.

Can I bring an individual looking for support to the Event?

No. We ask that individuals seeking support reach out to resources in the community, and do not attend the Service Fair. Navigators are available in the community throughout the duration of the Service Fair including through the Community LINKS. The Community LINKS Support Navigators can be contacted in-person at the Lethbridge Public Library, by phone at 403.328.5465 or through email at communitylinks@cmhalethbridge.ca
